BCU Suffolk is part of the BCU Eastern Region Development Team and exists to promote canoe sport at every opportunity. The region has a fantastic waterway network that we endeavour to make full use of through our many events and touring opportunities. With major rivers including the Waveney, Ore, Alde, Deben, Orwell and Stour, all very accessible with easy access to the Norfolk Broads, there are numerous opportunities to get involved in a variety of canoeing disciplines. The region is rich with very active clubs whilst also supporting a wide range of Scout and Guide watersports activities.
Major clubs in the area exist in Bungay (Waveney Valley Canoe Club), Oulton Broad, Southwold, Woodbridge and Ipswich to name but a few. Further links to clubs can be found here.
The region also enjoys a fantastic coastline for those interested in sea paddling and exploration. Coaching expertise in the region is first class with a great network of Local Coaching Officers. Training opportunities include first Aid, Kayak and Canoe coaching awards, BCU Star scheme, Polo and Race training, pool sessions and surf evenings.
